Sail with us over wild seas and conquer your Strong Viking medals! With your achievements during the Strong Viking events, you can earn all parts of the unique Strong Viking honor metal. Read below to find out how it works.
We proudly present our ‘Medals for Life’! With the introduction of this new concept, the medal counter will no longer reset each calendar year. From now on, we will continue counting through the years and experiences! Conquered editions will never fade away; you can keep collecting to complete all the Strong Viking honor metal. Of course, the medals are not just pieces of metal. Each medal has its own story, background, and requires its own achievement. The progress of earning the medals will now be accurately tracked in your personal Strong Viking account. All you need to do is create an account and personalize your purchased tickets (and eventually participate to earn points, of course).
THE MEDALS 4 LIFE
Sleipnir Axe
Your journey begins with the Sleipnir Axe. Become the author of your own story and let the Sleipnir Axe guide you on your path. The Sleipnir Axe consists of four parts, and upon earning two medal points, you’ll receive the first part. Each subsequent part is also worth two points. After completing two, four, six, and eight challenges, you’ll receive a part of this medal. With eight medal points, the Sleipnir Axe will be complete! Want to know more? Varjagen Shield
After the Sleipnir Axe, it’s time to continue building your Viking arsenal. The Varjagen Shield will protect you on your journey, allowing you to overcome all obstacles. The shield consists of six parts, and again, you need to earn two medal points for each part. Upon earning your twentieth medal point, you can proudly call yourself the owner of the Varjagen Shield. Gjermundbu Helmet
The journey continues with the Gjermundbu Helmet. The existence of this helmet was long considered a myth, but it has now been revealed. The Gjermundbu Helmet consists of six parts and acquiring it requires considerable perseverance. Each part of the medal can be earned with four medal points. FAQ
You receive a medal at every second Strong Viking event you finish (Medal Series 1 & 2)*. Your participation is automatically tracked in your personal Strong Viking account, and at the registration tent, you receive a medal wristband for every second event. With this wristband, you’ll receive your medal directly at the Medal Point after crossing the finish line.
Note: Family Editions do NOT count towards the Medals-for-LIFE system. Children up to 13 years old receive a unique Strong Viking medal immediately after finishing a Family Edition.
*All runs from 2020 onwards count towards this system. If you participated in 2019 or earlier, those do not count, as at that time you could collect medals per calendar year.
You receive a medal after finishing every second edition (from 2020 onwards)*. This applies to the following distances. We do not distinguish between distances, as everyone takes on the challenge at their own level. Please note, combinations of distances are also possible.
- 4km – Beginning
- 7km – Lightning
- 13km – Warrior
- 19km – Beast
- 42km – Iron** You will also receive the coveted Iron Viking medal
- 60km – Ultra** You will also receive the coveted Ultra Viking medal
*Runs completed in 2019 and earlier are not included in the Medals for LIFE system. In previous years, you could collect medals per calendar year.
**The 4km – Family Edition does not count towards the Medals for Life system. Kids (up to and including 13 years old) will receive a Family Edition medal after completing the event.

The tracking of our Medals for Life system is completely automatic. It’s important that you personalize/purchase your Strong Viking tickets with the same email address every time! The editions are automatically attributed once you have crossed the finish line.
PLEASE NOTE: Not personalizing your tickets means no registration for the medals.

You can check your medal points with the points checker. Please note, the email address you enter must match the email address where you personalized your tickets in order to view your medals!
No, your completed editions (from 2020 onwards) remain valid for your entire life! So, if you ever get injured or cannot participate for a year, the counter will simply continue where you left off!
