Strong Viking is awarded best obstacle run of the Netherlands five times in a row and is the biggest obstacle run organisation of Europe. We organise events in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

Job Description

As (junior) communication specialist you are responsible for various lines of communication. You create the best newsletters, that people actually want to read. Next to that you make sure that all participants of our events receive all the information they need about their participation. You are the contact person for our partners and sponsors and with your communication and organisation skills you ensure that all details are taken care of. You see even more opportunities for the growing B2B market and you can’t wait to turn your ideas into reality with your new colleagues.

An example of your daily tasks:

  • Writing and sending newsletters and participant emails
  • Improving mailings and automations
  • Instructing and drafting responses for our customer service
  • Contact and subscriptions for the B2B market
  • Handling contact and requests from e.g. sampling parties and partners
  • Preparing proposals and presentations for new collaborations
  • Managing and developing Strong Viking merchandise
  • Managing and implementing various projects and ideas (which of course you can create yourself as well!)

Profile

You are someone who makes contact easily, is communicatively strong and thinks commercially in a creative way. You dare to embrace opportunities, develop new concepts and implement them into real projects. You are not afraid to speak your mind and are open to feedback from your colleagues. In addition, you look forward to traveling with us to our events to show your added value there as well!

  • Degree in communication, marketing, sales or related field
  • Available 24-32 hours per week
  • You are a true connector, you know how to link the right people inside and outside the organisation

Are you looking for a fun and educational internship, where you will be given a lot of responsibility and can really express your passion for content and social media? What are you going to do?
We are looking for someone who can support us in the development and execution of our social media platforms. There are also various ad hoc activities in the field of branding & online marketing that will be on your plate. In short, an internship where you will gain a lot of different experience!

Develop new Strong Viking Social platforms.
In collaboration with our content marketer, prepare social planning.
Execution and scheduling of all social post on all platforms (IG<FB, LinkedIn)
Coming up with creative inhakers & where possible executing them independently.
Provide support for other marketing activities such as events and PR.

With whom will you be working together?
You will primarily work directly with the Content creator and junior marketers on our team. Our team is small so in practice you will work with everyone and be able to learn from colleagues with extensive experience in strategy, content creation, marketing and e-commerce.

  • You are in your 3rd or 4th year of your HBO or WO education, preferably in the direction of marketing, communication, commercial economics or related field
  • Being active on social media is in your second nature; you like nothing better!

We are looking for an enthusiastic inter to support our marketing- & communication team. At this department we write texts for our socials, newsletters and website. We manage contacts with our partners, sponsors and companies. Next to that there are always new projects and ideas concerning our offline and online communication. In short: an internship filled with chances to gain a lot of experience. Your tasks might include:

  • Writing texts for online and offline communication
  • Supporting in our business market (teambuilding & vitality plans)

Come and join us with organising the best and most challenging obstacle runs in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany! Are you looking for an internship where you can go outdoors to play? Swinging from Monkey Bars, creating Mud Areas and designing the coolest tracks while racing on your mountain bike? Then this is the internship you are looking for!

What are you going to do?

As our Event Intern you have the opportunity to gain experience in the world of event organisation. You will be involved in all aspects of planning, organising and executing our obstacle runs. For a successful internship in this position we expect that you can be present at our office for at least four days a week. Next to that you are of course very excited to travel with us to our events! Tasks you can expect during your internship are:

  • Assisting in the preparation of event plans and schedules
  • Assisting in setting up obstacles and other event infrastructure on our locations
  • Coordinating logistics, including transport, accommodation and facilities for participants and staff
  • Working together with suppliers and sponsors to ensure all supplies are available on time and within budget
  • Assisting in recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers and staff
  • Reorganising and inventorying obstacles

Your qualities
You are an all-rounder who is up for anything! One minute you are joining a safety meeting, next minute you are making coffee for our crew or working with our construction team. You are confident and recognise yourself in the following points:

  • Studying a relevant education, like Event Management, Sport Management, Leisure Studies or similar
  • Ready for the coolest internship possible starting in September (big advantage if you are available in August already due to upcoming events)
  • Not afraid of some mud
  • Passion for events
  • Affinity with outdoor activities and/or sports
  • Organisational talent with an eye for detail

Strong Viking is a young company in the event industry. We organize Obstacle Runs and Trail Runs with more than 100,000 participants every year. Would you like to be part of our team and join us for as many as eleven events in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany? Then let us know now!

Job Description
As a construction crew member you will be responsible for building, running and dismantling the Strong Viking events. At most locations you will stay in a hotel together with the rest of the team. You will work outside at different and special locations.

Work is diverse and includes:

  • Setting up and taking down the obstacles.
  • Logistics work
  • Construction and dismantling of the course using ribbon, arrows and fences
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling the start/finish area with tents, fences, banners, etc.
  • Assist on the course or start/finish area during the event weekend.

Profile
You are someone who enjoys working in a team, being outside in nature and you have the following attributes:

  • Basic technical knowledge

Become a crew member at Strong Viking

Via the form you can sign up as a crew member.

Under motivation you can indicate on the which day/edition you want to help as crew. This is possible on the following editions:

  • Mud edition in Wijchen on April 20th(FULL)
  • Mud edition in Ghent on May 4
  • Water edition in Frankfurt on June 1/2
  • Water editie in Wijchen op 15(FULL)/16 juni(FULL)
  • Water edition in Ghent on Sept. 7/8
  • Water edition in Amsterdam on Sept. 21/22

Within a week of your application, you will receive an email from the organization with more information.

A day as a crew member you will start between 7:30 and 8:00 and will last approximately until 18:30. Below is an outline of the schedule. Please note, it may vary slightly on the day itself!

· Check-in with a cup of coffee/tea 
· Explanation of tasks by your coordinator
· You will be taken to your post

8.30-18.30
· You will be working at the registration tent/cloakroom/starting boxes/on the course/finish tent or medal point.

18.30
· End of the day

As a crew member, you will help perform light duties. All tasks can be found below:
· Registration tent – You are the first face the participants encounter! At the start of the event, participants come to you to pick up their starting bands.

· Wardrobe – Participants come to you to drop off their luggage. You provide them with bands for their wrists and bags so they can come back to retrieve their secured luggage after the event.

· Course employee – As a course assistant, you are co-responsible for the course. During the event, thanks to you, participants can safely follow the course and you will help them while overcoming obstacles by encouraging them.

· Refreshment station – Along the way, participants will be offered care from Strong Viking. You make sure that food and drinks are replenished so that the participants don’t lack anything!

· Finishtent – After finishing the run, all participants will receive a finish shirt. You are responsible for replenishing the shirts and issuing them.

· Medal point – The participants have finished! Some participants get a medal. You make sure they get the right medal to take home.
