Is your family up for the ultimate challenge? Sign up for the most fun Family Obstacle Run in the Netherlands: the Strong Viking Family Run in Amsterdam! After the success of previous years, we’re back in 2024 with even more fun and adventure for the whole family—participation starts from five years old.

In this four-kilometer course designed for families, you’ll tackle exciting obstacles together. Who is the real Viking of the family? You’ll find out! Forget those clean clothes—today, getting muddy is a must. In fact, we want to see you finish with a good layer of mud! It’s all about splashing through the mud, laughing, and having fun. Kids will, of course, earn a cool medal at the finish line!

Want even more challenge or ready for the next step? Check out the Strong Viking Obstacle Run in Amsterdam, with distances starting at 4 km (min. age 10). This event takes place the same weekend!

Can I store my luggage safely?

As a participant, you can store your luggage for free at a supervised cloakroom. You will receive a wristband, which allows you to retrieve your luggage after the run. Please note, no lockers are available on-site! Make sure to bring a bag for your belongings, as only bags will be accepted at the cloakroom—no loose items.

Important: Only 1 piece of luggage per participant is allowed.

Storing your luggage is always at your own risk.

Can I come to watch? Is there an entrance fee?

Of course, you are very welcome to come and cheer on the participants! Admission is free, and the venue opens at 8:30 AM. In addition to numerous obstacles, there will be various stands, catering, and more around the start and finish area. Please note that parking fees may apply if you use the parking facilities.

Do I have to complete every obstacle?

Strong Viking is not a race; it’s your own challenge. At each obstacle, there is an option to ‘walk by,’ allowing you to decide your own limits and how far you want to push yourself!

What's the minimum age per distance?

The minimum age varies by distance:

4 km Family Run: minimum 5 years old (or turning 5 in the current calendar year)
4 km Beginning: minimum 12 years old (or turning 12 in the current calendar year)
7 km: minimum 13 years old (or turning 13 in the current calendar year)
13 km: minimum 14 years old (or turning 14 in the current calendar year)
19 km & OCR Series: minimum 16 years old (or turning 16 in the current calendar year)
42 km Iron Viking: minimum 18 years old
60 km Ultra Viking: minimum 18 years old

What safety measures do you have in place?

To ensure the safety of our participants and staff, we conduct a risk assessment for each run. Based on this assessment, we implement necessary measures to guarantee safety. These measures may include deploying traffic controllers, rescue services, first aid teams, or other support services.

Water safety
Before the run, we test the quality of the water that participants will go through. We always recommend using the rinsing facilities at the event site after the run and taking a nice shower at home.
