Saturday 08 February
IMPORTANT NOTE: Since the municipality of Bergen decided not to give us the right permits to organise the Trail Run in Maasduinen, we changed to location to the Berendonck in Wijchen/Nijmegen! It's an off-road running event with time registration, through beautiful nature areas consisting of forests, heaths and sand drifts.
The Strong Viking Trail Run is back in 2020 and consists of running on narrow paths (trails), where only natural obstacles need to be conquered such as streams, tree trunks, rocks, hills etc. The Trail Runs mainly take place in the winter period, when it is too cold for obstacle running, and are the ideal goal to train / stay fit during the winter period. Prepare yourself optimally for the new obstacle run season during this alternative Strong Viking concept.
This year, the Trail Run takes places at the Berendonck in Wijchen/Nijmegen. Unfortunately, just before the holidays, we received a message from the municipality of Bergen that the mayor and aldermen do not want to issue approval/permits for the organization of the second edition of our Trail Run. The reason for this is that the success of the event would nuisance/burden the nature of the venue. Even though we only use existing paths and start in waves with a maximum of 250 participants per 20 minutes, the municipality nevertheless made this decision. A big disappointment for us as organization!
Since many of you already started the preparations and we still want to give all participants a challenge in February, we have worked very hard to arrange an alternative location in the area. Fortunately, the municipality of Wijchen offered its help by granting a permit on this short term for the organization of the Trail Run at the Berendonck in Wijchen/Nijmegen (40 km from Maasduinen). The start location of the edition will be at the Waterski centre.
