Radboudumc Amalia Children's Hospital
The Amalia Children's Hospital and Strong Viking will take on the challenge together in 2022! We are joining forces to make the experience for children in the hospital as pleasant as possible. So that the children experience as little pain, stress and anxiety as possible during their hospitalization and treatment.
The Amalia Children's Hospital is part of the Radboudumc. Annually, approximately 22.000 children between the ages of 0 and 18 are receiving treatment at the Amalia Children's Hospital. Children and parents are actively involved in the care process. This creates a safe environment where the identity of the child always comes first. Amalia Children's Hospital does everything in its power to make the hospitalization and treatment of children as pleasant as possible.
Challenging children to start moving
Children's Hospital event manager Claudia Schreven explains: "For these perks, the Amalia Children's Hospital is largely depending on donations. The money we receive from the government is really meant to provide medical care. Fortunately, because our donors support Amalia Children's Hospital, we are able to realize great initiatives that contribute to the welfare of children during their stay in the hospital. For example, we now have a 'living' wallpaper in the corridors of the wards. But not everything has been realized yet. A renovation of the outdoor playground is high on the wish list, as is the indoor-outdoor park. The indoor playground will be designed as a park with trees and a fish pond. We want to challenge children to get out of bed, move around and feel more like children and less like patients."
Big and small Vikings
Jan Reijs, CEO/Founder of Strong Viking: "We have found a common goal here. I see the children of the Amalia Children's Hospital as Vikings too, because they don't give up when faced with obstacles caused by their condition or illness. Strong Viking wants to help these little Vikings. Therefore, we are proud to announce that in 2022 we will be committing ourselves to the Radboudumc Amalia Children's Hospital. Strong Viking supports the idea of challenging children (and adults), stimulating children to move and challenging them to push their limits. That's what we at Strong Viking think is important."
